GNTM, T-Frage, usw.

In English:Totally forgot to write about the winner of GNTM: Lena G made it. I wasn’t surprised cos Heidi Klum seemed to like her best right from the start. And rightly so cos she had the most radiant look of all girls. I also liked the other finalist Jennifer, not only cos she’s from around here, but because she really made a lot of progress. She had to overcome her shyness and really learned how to present herself. The 3rd finalist Yvonne looked good, too, but she hardly spoke any English, which IMO is very important if you want to be an international model. Someone should have told her to take lessons. Anyway, I’m happy with the result of the show and looking forward to the next season.

The big „T-Question“ has been decided. Jürgen Klinsmann, the coach of our national football (soccer) team announced yesterday who will be the number 1 in the German goal. It won’t be “King Kahn”, i.e. Oliver Kahn, the goalkeeper of FC Bayern München, but Jens Lehmann, who plays for Arsenal (London) at the moment. I never liked Kahn anyway cos he’s arrogant. And the whole pre-world cup hype is getting on my nerves, too. I’m not patriotic when it comes to football, BTW. I support the team that has the cutest players. Hee.

P.S.: As you can see, I changed the template again. I needed something that looks more like spring, and the wintery-blue I had before wasn't right anymore.
I've also added my friend Sam to the links in the sidebar. She's great at Photoshop and a TV-show fan and shipper like myself.

  1. Kahn is over-rated, but in many ways Lehmann. One thing that the US generates more than any other country is goal keepers. we have tons of top quality keepers. I am surpised that more of them are not used internationally.

  3. I like the new look green!

I didn't realise they had a German Next Top Model, that's so cool I guess we'll never get to see it in England though. Cycle 4 of the American Series finished over here last nigth - it was good.

  4. srh, wow, you know German soccer players? I used to have a bit of a crush on Lehmann when he was still playing for Borussia Dortmund, but then he made some comments in public (can't remember about what) that I didn't really like.

I know at least one US goalie, the current one, Casey Keller (hope I got the name right!). A couple of Americans used to play for the team I support, 1. FC Nürnberg. They were called Eric Wynalda and Max Moore and they were both cute.

gabreael, the St. Paddy's Day thing didn't occur to me, but now that you mention it ... oops! But at least continuitygirl likes the new look! : )

  5. I follow footie in general. Yeah, Keller seems to be doing well for G'ladbach, so that is nice. The Bundesliga seems to be more willing than other top flight leagues to try out American players. Unfortunately, I do not get to see as many Bundesliga games as I would like. They seem to focus on the EPL here, if they are going to show any European games.

There are rumors here in the states that Klinsman could be tapped as the next US manager when the Bruce steps down. Everyone seems to be pretty sure that Klinsman will only have the Germany position until after the Cup.

  6. I have to correct myself about Wynalda. He didn't play for *my* club FCN, but he did play in the Bundesliga. I checked the magazine my dad always buys before the season starts to see how many US players are playing in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. Apart from Keller (who is competing with Gladbach's other goalie Darius Kampa, who used to play for FCN before he went to Gladbach), there's Steve Cherundolo at Hannover 69 adn Gregg Berhalter at Energie Cottbus. I thought there were more. Hm.

The Bruce?? Don't think I've heard of him. I've always liked Klinsmann. Although I think Germany won't do well at the world cup, I think he and the team he has assembled around him (Oliver Bierhoff etc.) should be given time to build something up. But in sports, that's hardly ever the case. Everybody wants results quickly and it's always the easiest thing to fire the coach.
