Sorry for the lack of updates. The past week has been pretty crazy. The weekend before last the area here was hit by heavy rain which caused flooding. Both my parents and my sister were affected, i.e. the basements of their houses were about a meter under water. No fun, I tell ya. I helped them as much as I could which wasn't easy cos I had to work.
I might post more later about the details, but for now I'll just say the rooms are empty now and are being dried by some company that brought equipment for that yesterday.
Uuh, that`s bad. I hope your parents' insurance covers such damage? Otherwise it might not only be "no fun" but a real financial problem. Once my parents cellar was flooded like 10cm or so, and there was massive damage (the washing machine didn't like the water... ooh, the irony).

No, the insurance doesn't cover anything, unfortunately. My mom's washing machine didn't survive the water either, and it was only about 6 months old. 2 freezers are kaputt as well.
AntwortenLöschenWe threw everything out after the flood(or packed the stuff that was still dry into boxes which means the first floor now looks like my parents just moved in) and as I said, there is equipment there now that blows the water out of the walls or something like that. Makes a lot of noise, my parents tell me.

Hey *waves*. This sounds so familiar. My grandma's basement was flooded as well. I went straight from the most busy weekend at work to her house and started clearing things out. Anyway, just wanted to drop a quick hello and sorry I haven't done so in aaaages *hidesunderrock* ;)
